Stuart Pennington, Age 40!
13th January 2017 (First day JM Taekwondo)
A million years ago, when I was young, I used to train and did get to Blue-Tag. Then, after a long, long time the Christmas holidays ended one year and something just clicked in my brain and I had a profound and sudden urge to kick stuff!
Best Kick: Hook Kick
Best Pattern: Chil-Jang
Achieving my first Dan Black-Belt and getting to watch my little boy train every week.
I would like to continue up the Dan grades, but most importantly is to keep fit and active.

My name is Emily Arnott, I’m 22 and I started taekwondo in march 2017. I started taekwondo before my 14th birthday due to a lot of trouble and bullying in school. My self confidence was on the floor and I never thought I’d be able to speak up for myself, taekwondo made me the person I am today; confident and outspoken. My favourite kick is a back kick (dwi chagi) and my favourite pattern is Yuk Jang. My most memorable taekwondo moment was when I won gold in my first ever competition in 2018, 18 months after I started the sport. This is what kickstarted my ultimate taekwondo confidence. I’d say I’m pretty experienced when it comes to competitions, I’ve had my fair share of losses and wins, in 2018 I came 5th in the British nationals, 2nd in the Irish open in 2019 to coming 2nd in the British nationals in 2019. Since Covid I haven’t been competing as much as I would in the past, hoping to soon get back into it. Currently my future ambitions for my taekwondo career is to gain my second Dan, and ultimately become a coach to teach other young people who are in the shoes I once stood in in 2017 when I first started, that it gets better and problems are only temporary. My most hated exercise is burpees (yuck)
